“Defender at Home” addresses a growing social need that becomes more urgent with each day of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The guide is designed for everyone involved in reintegration and support efforts, including: community members, local government officials, social workers, educators, clergy, psychologists, volunteers, veterans and their families, and all concerned citizens.
This publication aims to explain the essence of reintegration and the real needs of service members transitioning to civilian life and provide practical tools to overcome existing social barriers.
The guide includes: an overview of Ukrainian and international research, an analysis of societal biases and misconceptions, and a detailed breakdown of the “Defender at Home” training program’s theoretical and practical components.
This publication was developed by Olena Kopina – a trainer and facilitator at the NGO "Dialogue in Action", sociologist, mediator, psychologist, and dialogue specialist with over 10 years of experience.
“Defender at Home” is available in Ukrainian and English. Its creation reflects our team’s commitment to fostering conscious and respectful relationships between communities and their defenders – a work driven by deep gratitude and recognition.
