On June 10, Olena Kopina led the online studio "The Role of Women in Peacebuilding Through Dialogue Practice in Rural Communities – Step Two" for participants of the Rural Women's Business Network as part of the HONOR project.
The studio was part of the course "Resilience of Rural Women's Businesses Through a Culture of Peace and Conflict Transformation," which is part of the broader program "Leadership Studios to Strengthen the Resilience of Rural Women's Businesses in Peacebuilding Processes." The program helps rural women develop and sustain their businesses even amid the challenges of war, including through active engagement in peacebuilding efforts within their communities.
During the studio, Olena explored with participants key aspects of dialogue in rural communities, including:
• What conflicts can tell us and how we respond to them
• Different approaches to conflict: seeking someone to blame versus understanding what happened
• Whether dialogue is simply a conversation between two people
• When dialogue is needed and when it may not be appropriate
• How to organize and facilitate dialogue within a community
We are grateful to the Rural Women's Business Network and the HONOR project team for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to this important work supporting women entrepreneurs.
