The second module of the certificate program “Psychological Support as the Basis of Spiritual Service” was held on March 2-4 at Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy (Lutsk). Over the course of three days, students of the second cohort attended lectures on “Psychology of Religion,” “Comparative Pastoral Care,” “Propaedeutics of Psychiatry,” and “Practices of Recovery After Crises.”

In a live discussion format, participants engaged with practicing psychiatrist Andrii Mukhomorov, facilitators of Dialogue in Action Denys Brylov, Dmytro Fedorchak, and Olena Kopina. They discussed issues of mystical experience, spiritual journey, mental disorders, traumatic events, and crisis states.

“I did not expect to learn so much that was new to me,” shared one of the participants, Oleksandr. “It is very interesting how psychology and religion do not contradict each other, but rather complement one another.”

This group was also fortunate to include a graduate of the Academy, who gladly showed participants the most interesting places both within the Academy and in the historic center of Lutsk.

We sincerely thank the team of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy and personally Father Volodymyyr Vakin for their continued hospitality and cooperation! Special thanks to all participants for their active engagement and desire to learn!

The program “Psychological Support as the Foundation of Spiritual Ministry” holds dual certification and may be used as part of other academic education or as professional development. It is certified by the Academic Councils of the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy (Lutsk) and the Ukrainian Humanitarian Institute (Bucha).
